Almost to a complete week without missing a post. Not too shabby if I do say so myself.
So this whole Brett Favre thing is getting a little ridiculous, don't you think? I mean, I love the guy. He's been one of the icons of not only the Green Bay Packers, but the NFL as a whole. He's got 3 MVPs, the most touchdown passes in NFL history and a Super Bowl ring. Many would argue that he's the best quarterback, nay, player to ever play the game. I won't argue with that since it's a matter of opinion, however, I will say that he is being a bit of a drama queen.
Too harsh? Hear me out first. The entire sporting world, especially those in Wisconsin, were waiting for multiple years just to find out if he'd be playing the following year. I have no real problems with this by itself. Then, this spring we find out that he is indeed retiring. Not only do we find out, but we get a tear filled goodbye at a press conference with Deanna at his side. Again, I understand that after playing football for more than half of your time alive, when you leave it's probably going to be emotional. However, when these "rumors" pop up about Favre wanting to return to the Packers or the NFL, I get at least a little frustrated that this is happening. It's Aaron Rodgers' team now and for this to come up at a time when leadership needs to be defined is nothing short of being a "Drama Queen."
Now you might be saying, "Joey, these are RUMORS! It's not Brett's fault!" While you would be correct that they are indeed unconfirmed rumors and speculation, I would disagree in putting all of the blame off of #4. If they are rumors, why doesn't Brett come out and explain to everyone? Why is he allowing this bruhaha to go on any further? This should have been a one day story and then over and done with.
Phew. I'm glad to get that off my chest. Now onto the Web Waster of the Day!
