littlebigplanet

I'm going to come right out and say it... I am a gamer. I'm a total geek and I own every major video game system that is currently available. Lately, I've been addicted to a fantastic game that might even grab your interest. It's by a company in the UK called Media Molecule and the game is titled "littlebigplanet." You may have read about it in yesterday's edition of USA Today. The game features the ridiculously adorable "Sackboy" and "Sackgirl" and has unprecidented levels that allow for complete user creativity. I really can't do it justice just by discussing it here, so please, check out the official website and the video that I have here.

Now, why am I bringing up littlebigplanet? I think that this game will be one that brings the family together much like Nintendo has done with the Wii. Why? Well, consider creating a level with the family that mirrors a vacation you took this summer. You can start out with the family driving to the airport, getting on the plane, and then arriving at the beach. Import your own photos along the way and set a goal to see who can complete the level the fastest. Then, have your kids change up the level afterwards and add in that fun tourist trap that everyone loved to the end. From there, you can send the level to family and friends for them to experience your vacation virtually. The possibilities are all but endless and it's a great example of showing how quality video games aren't just for mature audiences or the hardcore gamers out there like myself. If you have a Playstation 3 in the house, do yourself a favor and pick this gem up on October 21st when it comes out.
