Joey Watched the Oscars?!?!

I can't believe it either. As much as I said that I had no interest in watching the Oscars last night, I turned it on out of curiosity just before it started and I got hooked. At first I thought, "Well, I'll just wait for them to give Heath Ledger the award for Best Supporting Actor, and then I'll switch it off." That of course turned into me thinking, "Well, I made it this far, I might as well see if Slumdog Millionaire will keep rolling and take Best Picture."

To my surprise, I was actually entertained throughout the ceremony. I really enjoyed the musical numbers especially, with the exception of the High School Musical "kids" getting an undeserved appearance that felt like a plea to the parents to let their kids stay up past their bed time.

The only thing that I wish was different was that I had seen more of the contenders. I have only seen Frost/Nixon, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Dark Knight, Wall-E and The Visitor as far as the heavy hitters. I need to see Slumdog Millionaire, Milk, The Reader, The Wrestler and Doubt. Other than that, I really enjoyed watching my first full awards show since The Kids Choice Awards when I was much younger.
