I know that regular soda is much worse for me on a nutritional stand-point (granted, neither could be considered healthy), but that has no basis on my decision. The only thing that I have against regular soda is the "syrupy" consistency of it. Much to my surprise when I have tasted Coca-Cola from Mexico or other international sodas, there was no "syrupy" consistency. I was pleased to find out that these sodas were sweetened with real sugar rather than the high-fructose corn syrup that is used in the U.S. Ever since that taste of real sugar, my love of soda has been somewhat broken down. However, it seems that Pepsi has seen the light for at least a short time period.
At the end of this spring, Pepsi will introduce Pepsi Throwback and Mountain Dew Throwback which will be sweetened with real sugar rather than high-fructose corn syrup! It will only last until June, but I'm hoping that it's just a trial phase and they'll end up keeping it around for the long haul. My teeth are hurting just thinking about the carbonated bliss that will be upon us in mere months.
