Watchmen... is Good?!

Well, I finally saw Watchmen over the weekend, and I must say... I liked it. I liked it quite a bit actually. I wouldn't say I'm a Watchmen nut (that title goes to Jon Carson) but I've read the book twice now and I think that director Zach Snyder did a respectful interpretation of the source material. Something that you don't see a whole lot of from Hollywood.

Now, let me follow this up in saying that I have never watched a movie based on a book that I have read and liked it better than the book. It has never happened, and it did not happen here. However, it got closer than any other movie ever has. There were changes throughout the movie that I'm not sure I liked and there definitely was a lot of material taken out, otherwise it would have been a 3 1/2 to 4 hour movie. There were also a few changes to the ending, but I think they were justified (I won't spoil them here).

Other than it being a movie that I enjoyed that was based on a book that I also enjoyed, it's also a movie that I wouldn't recommend to a lot of people. It's different than any other superhero, comic book movie that I've ever seen and yet it still manages to be incredibly graphic in violence and sexuality. So it's definitely not for the kids, but it's also not a movie for every adult. It definitely has its niche market and sticks to it.

If you want to check out the movie, I HIGHLY recommed reading the graphic novel first. You'll be glad you did since there are some things that get glossed over in the movie.

Here's today's Web Waster:

BestPicEver - It's a pretty immature website, but heck, it's fun. Some photos are cool, some are funny and others are just plain stupid. This site is the epitome of a Web Waster.
