Gimmie a Break...

What a great weekend, huh? I had some fun with Saturday @ the 70's, and then cruised over to my Alma Mater Ripon College to meet up with some friends for Reel Big Fish. They're the quintessential Ska band of my generation and it was a good time had by all. You might remember them from Waterfest a few years back when they were on the bill for one of the free nights, before the Leach Ampitheatre. I missed the Kentucky Derby, but I caught the replay and it was quite the race! Mine That Bird came out of nowhere!

One thing that did get my goat this weekend though is this whole 'Swine Flu' or N1H1 garbage. I understand that some people died in Mexico because of this thing, but I'm so much more confident in the medical community here in the US to prevent such a tragedy. Yeah, it sucks to get the flu, but all of the cases in the states have been reported mild and I honestly don't see any difference in this strain than any other strain of flu. Regardless of strain, you should stay home if you have the flu or keep your kids home. You should be washing your hands regularly anyway. What's different? I think the media just got sick of talking about the economy and had to switch over to something else that can depress us. Don't let it get to you!

Even if you're worried, there are 245 cases reported in the states. The population of the US (last time I checked) is 306,354,094. That means that 7.99728 e-7% or (0.000000799728%) are infected. Not the greatest chances of catching it...

Here's today's Web Waster:

SugarStacks - Ever wondered just how much sugar really is in the junk food we eat every day? Well now you can visualize how many sugar cubes it would equate to. This is a really eye-opening site and is pretty fun to browse. At the very least, it's neat to find out which candy has less sugar than the rest. Peanut Butter Cups for the win!
