Will it EVER End?

I am so sick of hearing about Brett Favre every single off-season. Is he retired? Is he not retired? This whole debacle just needs to end as soon as possible.

So he's meeting up with Brad Childres, the Minnesota Vikings' Head Coach, to see if they can reach an agreement to bring #4 to the Purple-People-Eaters. Apparently Brett is so peeved at Packers' General Manager Ted Thompson that he wants to play for the Vikings, and ONLY for the Vikings to give him "what-for." I see two problems with this:

1 - Brett isn't just going against Ted Thompson here, he's going against the entire organization, fans and all. Green Bay is the only reason Brett Favre has become the icon that he has. If that trade from Ron Wolf never was laid on the table for Atlanta, he'd be a forgetable second string quarterback for his career. He owes quite a bit to the Packers, and he seems to be throwing out the baby with the bathwater. It's impossible to go out for Minnesota and try to get revenge by saying, "No one else take notice here, this is JUST for Thompson." Not possible. There are fans, teammates, coaches and more that he's going against, and I think plenty of people will get their feathers ruffled about it.

2 - Minnesota's season isn't just the two games against Green Bay. He's got 14 other games to play and if he isn't willing to play those games as well, what good will this do anyone? I hate the Vikings as much as the next cheesehead, but I want them to lose because they're worse than the Green and Gold, not because their leader is apathetic to their overall success.

Either way, I suppose Favre's gotta look out for numero quatro, but I am excessively curious to see A) the crowd reaction when/if Favre runs out the tunnel at Lambeau in Viking colors and B) how the fans will react when/if his jersey is retired for the Packers.
