E3 Press Conferences Day Two

Well, after Microsoft showed off their Project Natal to help appeal to the "Wii Fit" crowd as well as a bunch of great games for their Xbox360, it was Nintendo's and Sony's turn today to give their respective announcements.

Nintendo didn't have anything too shocking. They announced the expected Wii Fit Plus that will be an improved sequel to the original hit that has sold more units than any other game released since. They also gave us sneak peeks at a bunch of neat looking Mario titles for the Wii and DSi. They closed the show with a surprise Metroid title that is sure to excite the hardcore gamers out there. However, Nintendo's strangest announcement has to be the Wii Vitality Sensor. This thing supposedly detects your heartrate and sends it to the Wii. For what purpose, only Nintendo knows at this point; but expect it to have some association with Wii Fit Plus.

Sony wrapped up the big three conferences with some great games in their show as well including God of War III, Uncharted 2, The Last Guardian, MAG and more. They also officially announced the PSP Go (which was leaked last week) that does away with disc based games and goes for digital distribution sort of like what the iTunes App Store works to accomplish. Sony's other big announcement was that they will exclusively release Final Fantasy 14 on the PS3. For a frame of reference as to how early these things get announced, Final Fantasy 13 hasn't even been released yet, and won't be here in the states for about another year. Sony also jumped into the motion controller camp with their tech demos of what's possible on their system.

Interesting stuff all around, at least for someone who follows the gaming industry. I'd love to know your thoughts on any of the things showcased across these conferences, especially if you don't play video games all that often. What did you find interesting? Is there anything that would make you want to buy a video game console? Hit up the comments if you're feeling up to it.

Here's today's Web Waster:

MovieStinger - There are two things I hate about going to the movies: Waiting through the credits in hopes of an extra "stinger" scene and not seeing one, and not waiting only to turn out that there was one. This site takes the guess work out so that you won't miss anything and you won't have to sit around for 15 minutes watching the credits.
