Hump Day Artist of the Week VI

Well, it's Wednesday so that means it's time to get this entry up and at 'em!

I'm getting this to you in between songs and manning the phone so you best appreciate it or... or... I'll cry... So don't make me cry!

Alright, now that the emotion is out of the way, let's get to the nitty gritty. I've done a whole lot of singer/songwriter type of stuff lately and while that's all well and good, earlier in the first Hump Day post I said, "It could be an artist you haven't heard before, one that you might have listened to in awhile, or maybe one that you absolutely love." I haven't gotten to the second two options much, so I'm going to right now. How 'bout that?

This week's artist is none other than Huey Lewis and the News. I remember back in the day watching one of my favorite movies, Back to the Future. Marty and Doc Brown were a huge part of my childhood throughout all three films. But the first one is where it's really at. And you might think that it's because of the kickin' time traveling DeLorean or hotty Elizabeth Shue (although she is definitely quite the looker), but not for me, oh no, for me it's all about "The Power of Love" with Huey Lewis and the News. Every time I hear that song I want to watch Back to the Future and every time I watch Back to the Future I want to listen to Huey Lewis and the News.
While that movie is what started my fascination with these 80s rockers, "Hip to be Square" and "If This Is It" sustained it. Typically I'm not a big 80s fan. Sure I enjoy some key songs from the decade, but I feel like a lot of the artists from that time took themselves a bit too seriously. But Huey and his News were all fun, all the time.

So kick back, throw in your Sports cassette tape and drift back to a simpler time. Go... Back to the Future if you will. See what I did there? I took the movie title and... Nevermind.
