Hump Day Artist of the Week II

Well, I've already failed you. I missed hump day. Wednesday has come and gone and I did not give you an artist of the week. For that, I cannot apologize enough, other than say that Jon and Mary picked up the slack for me and posted twice in one day! I am being outdone already and I need to pick up the pace. My bad completely.

So, even though it is Thursday, here's the artist...

This Day & Age

These guys are absolutely fantastic and it really comes alive during their live show. They have come to the Fox Valley quite a few times during their stint as a band (unfortunately they have since broken up). Their first album entitled "Start Over on Monday" wasn't in your face, it wasn't a grab you by the seat of your pants until you scream uncle title, it was methodical, it got in your head. After listening to it a number of times, I couldn't stop it.

The same was true for their sophomore release on One Eleven Records called "Always Leave the Ground" This is what I've been listening to all this week as well. Their songs all have a connecting theme while staying well encapsulated to stand on their own as well. All different, all intriguing. I would recommend this CD to be where you start listening to This Day & Age for you to get hooked. Stand out tracks are "Seven-Eighty" and "History is Falling for Science"

Their last release before calling it quits in early November, "The Bell & The Hammer" was a great step in maturation for these musicians and is a great marriage between their first two albums. Everything came together in the recording of this album, and it definitely shows. Make sure you check out the band's MySpace page to sample some music and if you like it, visit This Day & Age's official site to buy their CDs at a great price, only $9.11 for a limited time!

This Day & Age is this week's Hump Day Artist of the Week!
